about us

Thanks for visiting us here at Disobedient Goods & Apparel! I'm Althea Seloover, the founding human behind the business. I spent the past decade working with incarcerated people toward freedom as a criminal defense investigator, second-chance employer, parole preparation specialist, advocate & friend.

Disobedient Goods sells lovingly judgment & agenda-free sticker tools for self-guided practice, discovery & mapping. Products are made in-house, in small batches & made-to-order, using a simple two-tone thermal printer & digital design tools.

I like to think of the work we were doing here at Disobedient Goods as "figuring out what it is we need to figure out" –

✨ what do we need to have eyes on? ✨ Where do we know we need support? ✨ Where are we so competent, we're not only solid, but actually have something to offer others? ✨ What have we overlooked? ✨ Is there work left to be done? Where? ✨ Do we have plans to address the gaps in understanding or ability? ✨ What do we expect to need to tend to or deal with in the future? ✨ Do we expect to be prepared? ✨ Who are we? ✨ What do we do in hard moments? ✨ How do we face our shame? ✨ How do we get over there when we're real stuck-seeming right here? ✨ Questions abound!

In 2021 Disobedient Goods & Apparel came to life as a way to extend these questions & the tools we've found useful beyond the prison world. I've found that prison walls are often not the only source of imprisonment for an individual, nor does it take a physical prison to find yourself mentally, emotionally, and/or spiritually incarcerated, institutionalized, lost, or far away from the lives we're wanting to live.

We believe in making hard things playful; we believe in meeting a person or situation where they’re at rather than coming with a prescribed plan; we believe in regard for people & nature alike; we believe in slowing down & making aligned decisions grounded in our values in life & business; we believe the path to liberation starts from within.

So here we are with a whole ton of stickers – sticker tools without judgment or agenda – just simple tools to spark curiosity, connection, and a little reveal of the map.
